Due to it's location in the high desert, excellent wind conditions are created almost daily. On most weekends and especially weekdays, there's almost no competition for surface area on the lake for them to enjoy the sport. The two favored areas for launching are the Auxilliary Dam and the Old Isabella Rd. Campsites. While it is their favorite, they "fondly" refer to the campsite at Old Isabella Rd. as "The Ghetto" because it is an undeveloped site with only one porta-potty . Windsurfers are not deterred though because of the excellent conditions for the sport and the convenience of camping with their gear right next to the lake. They come here for the sport, not for the toilet.
